After a few chilly, rainy (on snowy) days, we at last had a beautiful day. Perfect for a hike. We had so many options of places to hike. Most were 2-3 miles up mountains. But there was also the 7 mile loop around Rampart Reservoir. So we picked that one...because we are over-achievers.
After an hour we stopped for a snack of granola bars...shortly after that we finally learned not to take "short-cuts" because the lake was funny-shaped and "short-cuts" usually dead-ended at the water, which resulted in us scrambling over large boulders.
An hour later we were at the "half-way" point, and still smiling.
4 HOURS LATER...we were still hiking!!!
Around that time we both started having problems with our hips rotating and the other one over-compensating. That made me step on my foot wrong and start limping. It felt like the hike would never end. Every turn in the trail revealed yet another inlet to walk around...
The hike turned out to be 14 miles total.
We did make it out of there before sun-set...barely....
The next day we visited the chiropractor to re-assemble our falling-apart hips...
3 days later, it still hurts to step on my right foot, so I'm still limping...I have one angry foot...no more hiking for us...at least not until my foot heals...
