A Different GPS

I've spent a lot of time listening to the GPS this week. It's been fun, though at times, I know the route I want to take, but Mrs. GPS disagrees. She starts freaking out "ding...recalculating" "ding...make a u-turn." But when I don't know where I'm going, it is really helpful to just follow the GPS. It makes the trip more relaxing "ding...turn left in .3 miles."

Yesterday I was "home" by 7, and had no plans for the evening. It was a beautiful day for a walk. Being task-orriented, I thought of a couple places I could go - stopping by friend's houses to say "hi." I have a long list of people I want to see while I'm here. For whatever reason, I didn't feel like doing that. In fact, I felt like going a different way, without really having a "final destination."

Off I went down the road. Along the way I just happened to cross paths with a friend who was about to get in the car and drive off. I would not have expected to see them here in town. We had a great time talking about our over-seas trips, future plans, and sharing our requests for the Father.

A block later I saw another friend, and again stopped to talk. This "no destination" walk was turning out to be quite fun.

I came to an intersection and began thinking about what people I could see depending on which way I went. That's when I started over-analyzing things and my relaxing walk became not-so relaxing. What if I go the wrong way and miss seeing certain people? Then I reminded myself that this is not a life-or-death-situation, it's just a walk around town. But you never know what surprises the Father might have planed along the way, so I guess I followed His GPS :)

Enjoy the journey!
