Today I went to check out the Mother Theresa House and the orphanage. You are not allowed to take pictures in these places, and understandably so, due to the amount of visitors they receive.
I saw Mother Theresa's grave and her room, and a little museum hall.
Then I walked further down the road to the orphanage. There are several Mother Theresa Houses in the city, so I had the find the right one.
"Mother Theresa House?" a little girl asked.
"yes" I said
"which one?"
"orphanage...babies"
"ah, this way"
I followed my little tour guide a few blocks further down the busy street. She asked the usual questions: "from which country?" and "how long you stay?" She also told me about her little baby sister, who needed milk. I could see where this was going...
She pointed out the orphanage, which was next to a shop to buy milk. She was so cute, how could I resist? Besides a bag of milk is only 10 or 15 rupees. The man at the shop handed me a container of powdered milk. I gave him a 50. "this is 300 rupees" ($7). What?! I only had 150 rupees, so I bought a smaller container. That little stinker...she walked away clutching the precious milk, which she will probably sell...and I went to see the orphanage...
