The heat is exhausting, but so is the mental strain of life in general. Every day I've got to get on the right bus and get off at the right place. If all goes well, it's only a 1 hour trip. Along the way I enjoy looking at the window trying to read any Hindi words I find, but mostly the script here is Bengali. I started trying to figure out those letters, but then I realized my brain does not need more to do.
Yesterday I went to the staff meeting, that was a whole new bus ride, which was completely successful!! There was a guest speaker from USA teaching on Finances, and so I learned some things. I ate lunch with the staff and met people from too many countries to name. Hearing English spoken with such a variety of accents is another mental strain. Although at the end of the day I find that my British friends at the guest house have the hardest accents to understand - probably because I am so tired, and they are white, so the accent catches me off guard.
After the staff meeting, another bus ride. Then I spent an hour trying to buy train tickets for the group from Idaho who is coming at the end of March. That was finally successful as well.
Then there was a new bus route home. I got off at a familiar stop - Park Circus, but coming from a different direction. It took a few minuets of looking around the 6 way intersection, but then I recognized where I needed to be to get the auto-rickshaw back to the guest house...success yet again! I am proud of the day's accomplishments...
