Child-like Joy

Anyone who knows me, knows that I tend to have a sarcastic sense of humor and a rather cynical view on life. At one place we visited, we were greeted with flower necklaces, my first thought was "great, mosquito attractors."

A certain individual on our team is very much the opposite. I quote, "If Sam were a battery he would explode because there is too much positive." Somehow he manages to see the good in everything. It's starting to rub off on and I am thankful for my change of heart.

In light of that I must tell you, when we arrived in C-Town I was delighted to discover that our squatties flush! And now in B-Town, I keep saying how much I love our cute house and yard...even if it is full of trash...there I go, being negative again...

One day, riding along in the auto-rickshaw, I was sitting on Carrie's lap, so I rode with my neck bent in order not to hit my head. As I enjoyed watching India pass by on a funny side-ways angle, I couldn't help by exclaim, "oh look a donkey! It's so cute and fluffy." Then I realized the effect the 2 year olds had on me...

They have also been a good influence (probably because of their amazing parents). They say things like "nice singin'," "good cooking mom!" and "pretty zipper" who would have thought that the zipper on my hoddie was pretty?

So thanks to them, I have realized that to be encouraging, we can be elaborate and say, "Wow. You spoke really well, I especially liked the part where you said..." or share a couple simple words of encouragement and affirmation like "good speakin'' and "yummy chai."
