Random Stories

Cows
One morning we awoke, and looked out from the balcony to see that a cow had fallen into the Nala (sewage stream) and died. That's right, there was a dead cow in the sewage filled stream behind our house. That was weird. The neighbors removed it. It took a long time and looked like a lot of work. None-the-less (I like saying that word, but I don't know how to spell it), the cow is gone now.

Mosquitoes
For some reason, we had a very large number of misquittos in our room last evening. We have those coils (probably some sort of poison, we shouldn't be breathing) that we burn to scare them away, but the door was closed, so they were trapped. Our solution was to open the door, turn off the light, and have someone stand outside with a flashlight. It worked quite well. We are professionaly misquitto herders now!

Goats
We bought a goat for christmas dinner, but it was someone's pet and part of their family so they were very sad, when they realized we intended to eat it. I don't know why they sold it to us in the first place, but we sold it back to them. It was a cute goat, with a blanket over it's back and a scarf around it's neck. It looked like a very ugly old man. Now we have to get another goat, and the guys have drawn out conplex plans for how we are going to cook it. (on the roof, so the neighbors don't see). Merry Christmas...

Angels and Mortals
For Christmas we each drew a name and are buying a gift for that person. For the past week we have been putting things in our mortal's stocking. Yes, we have stockings, and they all match, because on the way here the airlines gave us red socks (after our flights got incredibly messed up). We also have demons - the boys put candy wrappers or soggy crackers in our stockings...

Electricity
It is usaully reliable. It's on in the morning until about 8am. Then it turns on again around 2pm. Usually it turns off again for a couple of hours in the evening. But the past couple days, all evening it has been blinking. We decided it lasts as long as the schedules that Josiah made, but we wish it was last as long as his monolauge. It would be on for 10 mins, off for 15, on for 2, off for 5. Every time it turned off we'd groan and turn on our head lamps. (usually we have free time in the late afternoon/evning while someone makes dinner, so we read and hang out in the "dinning room"). The lights continued to blink all though dinner, and into the evening. We discovered we can make shadow puppets on the wall, so then we started groaning when the lights came back on and ruined our fun. Then we all gave up and went to bed...
