Sharing a Car

Colorado Springs in considerably bigger than Cascade, Idaho. That means it's actually necessary to own a car...if you want to go anywhere...ever. The post office, grocery stores, bank, and even the office is not within walking distance. But I do have a hospital right across the street.

Duane & I share his car. That was easy when we both lived at his parent's house. When I first moved into the apartment, his parent's were on vacation, so he had his Dad's work truck. Now they are back, which is nice, but Duane and I have to figure out how to share 1 car, while living 10 mins apart.

Usually this is not a problem, since we both work at the same place. He picks me up in the morning and we go to the office. If we don't feel like driving that far, we go to a local coffee shop and enjoy their free wifi.

This week was extra challenging, because Duane was sick (allergies). This meant figuring out if he was going to come pick me up in the morning, or if I should drop him off so I could have the car the next day. We made it through that confusion without missing any meetings, Bible study, etc. Although one night he was stranded at my apartment till 10pm, because I took the car and went to the Women's Night of Worship at Church, but the xbox is at the apartment. "Sorry to make you stay up so late, when you're sick. Here's your car, you can go home now."

Today is the most exciting day. I have a bridal shower tonight :) So while us girls have fun, the guys needed something to do. So 3 of them decided to head to the mountains to spend 24hrs at a prayer cabin. Now you all know who the more spiritual ones are :). Due to their schedules they took 2 cars.

Did I mention that most of our friends are couples - married, and sharing 1 car? Guess what happens when 2 of us ladies have no car? Life gets complicated. Let me add the factor that we all live scattered all over the city. Now we have nice friends driving all over the place to pick up those of us who are stranded, so we can go to my party :).
