For the past 3 weeks Rachel and 3 of us students have been working on the Child Protection Policy (CPP) for the center here in San Jose. Then today we got to present it to all the staff and students.
In the next 2 months 2 more groups will be working on teachings about Trafficking and Foster Care.
I may have had selfish reasons for choosing the CPP – like it’s the first one (of the 3), get it over with, and now my Monday nights are free. Or logical reasons – I’ve worked at a Day Care and nursery so I am familiar with the CPP. Or being nice, because it sounds like a boring topic, and everyone wants to do Trafficking.
Regardless of my reason for doing the CPP, I am glad to be done. I would say this morning’s teaching went well.We divided it into 4 parts – Intro, explaining types of abuse and signs of abuse, the do’s and don’t (our actual policy),and what to do if a child tells you they’ve been abused.
The most exciting part was right in the middle, when we made everyone stand up and do the motions to “Jesus Superhero.”
