Delhi, India

We arrived in Delhi, India at midnight. It's India alright. The smells...sweat, outhouse, cow poop, spicy food, smog...yep. The electricity in the airport even blinked 2x. A surprised "aaa" came from the tourists. They'll get used to it. It's noisy too - lots of car horns. The best part is listening to 2 year old Wesley's "honk! honk! beep beep!" As he rides along on Joe's kid-carrying backpack.

After much slow motion chaos, and walking back and forth, we got the right taxis. I laughed as I watched our taxi driver try to close the trunk door, and it kept bouncing back, because there was too much stuff in there. Then he fought with his seat belt...yep, this is India. The rest of us didn't get seat belts, and there's no car-seats for the kids either. I was Wesley's car seat. After much head-bobbling on the bumpy road, he feel asleep. Isaac was cute snuggling with mommy, and poor Wes was falling off my lap...
We arrived at the ghetto guest house and it cost more than they told us it would...should I be surprised? Probably not. I went to bed at 3:30am. I didn't sleep...didn't matter, I got up at 6, took a cold bucket showerish type thing, and went with another leader to the train station to get tickets to Arangabad...the place wasn't open, so we ate breakfast and tried again at 8. After much negotiation we got tickets on the train we wanted. Why does everything in India have to be so complicated?

I don't remember much else about today...I think I mostly helped the girls shop for clothes, and navigate the crowded streets, while the guys wondered around.
I took care of the budget too. Do you know how complicated it is to record that you bought food in Amsterdam using US Dollars, but the change was in Euros or whatever currency they use...my ability to do math (with only 15 hrs of sleep in the past 4 days)...is not so good...
The point of this long, boring, rambling story is to say, I'm back in India and I need sleep...but mostly I'm really happy to be back in India...but I would probably enjoy it more if I weren't so tired...but I am really glad to be back.
