We think the chicken coop is finished, and as of Tuesday, we have chickens and an evil rooster that starts crowing at 5:30am.
That evening, some how, a valve was opened that resulted in lots of water being blasted into the chicken coop. So people had to clean all the water out of the chicken coop and blow-dry the chickens so they wouldn't freeze at night (because it's gets cold at night. I'm a little bitter about that).
The next day, it happened again. This time a chicken died. I don't know if that was the came chicken that broke it's wing, or maybe a different chicken. The poor little chicks got all their feather's blown off.
After that, the guys did some more work on the chicken coop, so that the water drains out better.
Hopefully someone closed the valve so it won't happen again. The valve is on the pipe that goes from the pump to the water tanks on the roof...speaking of the water tanks, there's another story:
We have gas for the stove and for a water heater. So if we want a warm bucket-shower, we have to get water from the faucet by the kitchen. But then, they got some sort of electrical water-heating coil for the tanks on the roof. Then all the water was warm. Happy day! (I took a real shower!). Then the coil melted one of the tanks, so now there is no running water on the 2nd floor (aka our bathroom and the boy's bathroom).
Before that happened, we ran out of gas for our hot water heater, and for the stove in the kitchen. People are only allowed to have I think 1 gas tank and they can only be filled every couple of weeks, but I think we have 5, but even so, we ran out of gas. Last time this happened, our host, said "we have foreign guests staying at our house, what will they think of our country?" So they re-filled the gas tanks. That didn't work this time. So for about 4 days we were cooking our meals over a fire outside.
